I've been spread thin with neglected sites and galleries, unfinished masterpieces, unscanned, unposted art.  Yeah we all have been.  Familiar woes.  Well, I have not been quite as idle as my gallery here suggests.

Now that phones, tablets and ereaders are so good, it just makes sense to make them available at Amazon.  And if you have Kindle Unlimited, then 2 of the books are free to read.  Please submit an honest review.

Serious Humor:  Cartoons for Connoisseurs   Book 1:
Serious Humor:  What do the Pigs Know?   Book 2:
Serious Humor:  Sharks are People too   Book 3:

Author Page:

Each volume has over 200 cartoons of better quality than my DA postings.  Few, if any, have been posted here or elsewhere.  For the modest toll of $2.99 (less than 1.5 cents per lovingly crafted cartoon) you get a celebrated collection of humorous art from one of the top ‘toonists alive today.

Why pay?  Here’s why:

    1.    Support the arts.  I don’t sell prints, mugs, mousepads, etc, because either my stuff doesn’t lend itself to that avenue or I just wouldn’t buy them myself.  It is a way to inspire and motivate artists to produce more and better work.

    2.    A better experience.  The file sizes are about 5x greater and you can poke through without interruptions from: ads, slow downloads, missing links, watermarks, thumbnails, etc.  Your humorful interlude is more consistent with the cartoons easier to access and to show to others.

    3.    Feedback is more valuable.  Snarky or banal remarks on a website are given small weight.  But a paying customer is listened to.  Feedback on Amazon is important and more valid for the vendor/artist.

Mutant cheese?  An explosion?  Inflation?  A tumor?  Poor diet?  Cheese augmentation?  Viagra for cheese?

None of those.

I am simply increasing the size of my modest footprint on the web by also posting to Sherpa at GoComics.com www.gocomics.com/barking-crayo…

Why this bold move?  Several reasons:

1. To broaden my dairy-fresh outlook to more cheeseheads.
2. GoComics is geared specifically for comics.
3. There is a very nice interface which allows you to upload many comics a once.
4.      You can also schedule when they are posted.
5. They have a nice feature which allows folks to subscribe by email.
6. Fewer souls so you might not get lost so in the nude pics and fan art.
7. Just to try something different.

I am not abandoning my post on DA but simply forming a colony in a distant, non-DA land.  You are welcome to join me or routinely visit or subscribe to my daily.  I will probably schedule a daily toon through the end of the year then move to a weekdaily format.

Obviously I encourage all DAers to visit, follow, comment, share, pin, tweet, etc.

My comic is currently named Barking Crayon and is located here:  www.gocomics.com/barking-crayo…

See you in the funny papers.

What is this all about?  The implication is that without this marvelous product we are all listless zombies going through life at 70% efficiency.  Since an average person is awake 16 hrs a day, shouldn't there be a second product to fill this gap?  Do I need 3 of these drinks during waking hours to fulfill my potential?   If taken at bedtime do I need to sleep at all?

Absent a concise definition of "energy" such claims seem unfounded or, at best, impossible to prove.  Was this energy scientifically calibrated in: Calories? Footpounds? Amps? Horsepower? Sticks of Dynamite?   The ad claims 5-Hour Energy has no sugar.  Is it time released, radioactive or a toxic chemical soup?  Theoretically, if I carried an AA battery around in my pocket that would give me 1.5 volts of energy for years.

Is this product a food or beverage?  I would argue that it is unsatisfying as food and too slight to quench thirst.  So it is simply a $3 addition to normal nourishment.  What need does it really fulfill then?  Couldn't you also get hours of energy from a cheese sandwich?  And that would taste good.  Couldn't a day-glow label on a carrot or pretzel make the same claim?

Finally, what about hours 1 through 4?  Six is already a reality.  Can 7 and beyond be far behind?  Once we get to 24 the need for sleep will be eliminated and the entire planet will be 33% more productive.  ….Or watch TV for 8 hours more each day.

The NFL kicking game is seriously flawed.   Here is a way to fix it:

No touchbacks or fair catches.  These are OK for Europeans but TIA.  (This is America.)  Weanie no-plays have no place in the NFL.

As a football fan I hate the "going thru the motions" quality of so many special team plays.  This is kind of lackadaisical performance is fine for socialism and Baseball, but does the game of football a disservice.

The Kick-Off…   The 9 point play. (10-point play)

No touchbacks. The ball must be returned.  (or it is a safety, of course)

If the ball is kicked through the end zone…
…after a bounce - the kicking team gets one point.  Rx team gets the ball on their 20.
…in the air – the receiving team gets one point and the ball is placed on their 40.
If the ball is kicked OB (sideline) the receiving team gets a point and has ball on the 40.

Results:  The ball is kept in play more often.  It would be more difficult to kick away from a good return man.  There are more scoring and catch-up permutations.  The kicking game is no longer an extended bathroom break.

Punts…  (similar to Kick-Off)

No fair catches. No touchbacks.  (TIA)
If the ball is punted through the end zone…
…after a bounce - the punting team gets one point.  Rx team gets the ball on their 20.
…in the air – the receiving team gets one point and the ball is placed on the line of scrimmage.
If the ball is punted OB(sidelines) in the air… the receiving team gets the ball at the line of scrimmage.
If the punt goes OB (sidelines) after the bounce….the receiving team gets the ball where it went out.

Results:  In addition to the same advantages as the Kick-Off it might lead the way to a possible re-birth of drop kick and/or quick kick.  It puts more options on the table when the line of scrimmage is between the 40s.

Double-Bye

Every team gets 2 byes a season and 1 less game.  Teams get an extra week to heal but one less game to play.  The length of the football season remains unchanged.

Too Many Divisions

4 divisions, 4 wildcards (by record regardless of div.)   There are too many divisions.  The NFL is devolving into the same sad situation as basketball.  The regular season has to mean something.

OT

Same as college Football except no kicks – just TDs and 2 pt PATs.   2 timeouts per period. ( See ESPNs Collin Cowherd)

Results:   Games are not decided on a coin toss.
